This apartment, purchased in October 2002, is in the prestigious Zeniamar development, a quiet residential area, situated just 5km from Torrevieja. The apartment is situated on the first floor of a two storey building and has both a patio for al fresco dining and a large private solarium for soaking up the sunshine and working on that tan. The large communal swimming pool, set amongst attractive gardens, is less than 100 metres from the apartment.
The apartment is cleaned and supplied with fresh bed linen and towels (except beach towels) prior to your arrival. Also included is an iron, ironing board and a hairdryer.
Kitchen: Fully fitted with units, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hob, oven, microwave,
washing machine, kettle, toaster, saucepans, crockery, glasses and cutlery.
Living/Dining room: Containing a bed-settee and armchair, wall unit, coffee table, dining table and chairs. Sliding doors lead out on to the patio area. There is another small bed-settee (suitable for one person) on the second floor.
Bedrooms: One double bedroom and one twin bedroom sleeping 4 people. Both contain large fitted wardrobes and bedside tables with lamps. Blankets are available for winter.
Bathroom: Fully tiled with toilet, bidet, sink, bath and over the bath shower, mirror.
There is a small area on the second floor containing a bed-settee which could be used as an extra bedroom. Leading from this area are sliding doors to the large solarium. Sun loungers are supplied.
The TV in the living room currently only receives Spanish broadcasts but there is a DVD player available. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans and in the living area there is a large free-standing fan.
There is no smoking in the apartment. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
Alicante airport is approximately 48km away (about a 45 minute drive) and Murcia airport is about a 30 minute drive away. Many cheap airlines including Easyjet and bmibaby fly to these airports and prices can be very inexpensive out of school holiday times. Transport to and from the airport can be arranged if required.
Although we would recommend car-hire so that you can explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, public transport is both plentiful and reliable. Buses run hourly from the N-332, about a 20 minute walk away from the apartment. From Torrevieja it is possible to access numerous excursions and tours to the nearby attractions including Benidorm, just visit the local tourist information office. There is also a bus station with a national service and a taxi stop from the Champion supermarket which is just 1km from the apartment.
There are numerous beaches along the Orihuela coast, the nearest of which, Punta Prima, is within walking distance although a busy road must be crossed. The best beaches are about a 5 minute drive away at La Zenia or Playa Flamenca but there are lots of beaches along the coast and it is worth exploring.. Also in Torrevieja there are wide sandy beaches where you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas and relax by the sea. Within easy walking distance there is a wide choice of bars and restaurants and a large Champion supermarket. Torrevieja has numerous shops, bars and restaurants. There are local markets selling everything from original paintings to fake designer handbags and the wide promenade really comes alive in the evenings. Look out for street entertainers in Torrevieja, anything from mime artists to violinists. There is also a funfair on the seafront which includes all the usual rides, trampolines etc. Don't forget to visit the huge market in Torrevieja on Friday mornings or the popular market nearby at Playa Flamenca on Saturday mornings. There is a large shopping area on three floors at Playa Flamenca where you will find many restaurants (Hungarian, Indian, Chinese, Irish as well as Spanish) and lots of bars. There are also many attractions nearby including glass-bottom boat trips, the island of Tabarca for wonderful scuba diving and snorkelling, go-karting, aqua park and nightclubs. Visit the Tourist Information office in Torrevieja where the very helpful, English speaking personnel, will give you maps and tell you anything you want to know about the region. Our daughter (16) says that we must mention the theme park, Terra Mitica, which is near Benidorm - not Alton Towers standard, but still quite impressive. One of the best golf courses in Spain, probably the best in this region. Villamartin is the nearest course to Torrevieja. You may find it difficult to book during February-March and October-November as this is a very popular course.

The area is residential and many people, a large majority English, live there permanently. The development includes tennis courts, basketball courts, petanque and a children's play area. This region of the Costa Blanca is being developed rapidly. For example there are plans for two new man made beaches, a marina and a 5 star hotel nearby at Punta Prima. There are new shopping malls (commercial centres) opening constantly. This does mean that the area is perhaps not the prettiest at the moment but ........watch this space.
