Car Hire

We have hired cars from many of the hire companies at both Alicante and Murcia San javier airports.

All are reasonably priced and offer good service with the notable exception of Hertz.

We recommend that you book your car via the internet for the best deals.

Our gripe with Hertz is that their representative at Murcia airport added very expensive collision waiver insurance to our contract with them without telling us how much it was going to cost. We should have asked at the time, but as we had never been stung like this before by any of the other companies we just signed and trusted them. What a mistake! We ended up with a credit card bill of €405 for the extra insurance plus hire charges for just one week's rental! This insurance charge is more than twice the amount we have ever paid for a week's rental including insurance.

Our advice is that you avoid Hertz and do as we now do - read the small print before signing.
